What is our labradoodle pup health guarantee?
Different breeds of dogs are susceptible to various genetic disorders and diseases. Bungaree Labradoodles work hard to ensure that we are breeding with healthy dogs and are passing on to you pups who will grow into healthy family members also.
We are accredited with the Australian Labradoodle Association who set health testing protocols which we abide by.

Health Testing
The following is a list of diseases that we currently test for in our breeding dogs. Dogs are susceptible to a wide variety of health concerns and it would be impossible to test for them all but we do have access to a wider variety of DNA testing than ever before. The genetically inheritable diseases that all our breeding dogs are tested for are:
- PRA-prcd - a genetically inherited eye disease that leads to blindness. It is a hereditary disease carried by Labradoors, Poodles and 28 other breeds of dogs. The ALA was the first dog breed association world wide to require comulsory DNA testing for PRA. There is no cure so the only way to eliminate the disease is not to breed with affected dogs.
- Cystinuria
- Centronuclear Myopathy
- Exercise Induced Collapse
- Myotubuular Myopathy X Linked
- Neonatal Encephalopathy
- Von willebrands disease Type I
- Degenerative Myelopathy
- Autosomal Hereditary Recessive Nephropathy
- Phosphofructokinase Deficiency
Hips and Elbows
At 12 months of age our potential breeding pups receive x-rays on their hips and elbows. Canine hip displaysia is a developmental abnormality of the hib joint and can cause osteoarthritis which is painful and debilitating. These x-rays are assessed by specialists and each dog rated on their hips and elbows. This allows us to make breeding decisions to help limit the possiblity of our pups developing this condition.
It is important to note that genetics are NOT the only contributing factor for this condition however and the type of exercise and movement a pup experiences while they are young can be a big contributing factor. In the very young pup and older dog, discourage jumping from heights (eg on and off the furniture or the back of the car) – lift your dog up and down instead. Provide a balanced diet and avoid obesity.

So what do we guarantee for your pup?
For our companion pups we offer a 3 year limited health guarantee if we confirm that your Bungaree pup is affected by one of the conditions mentioned above. Our guarantee entitles you as the buyer to financial reimbursement or a replacement pup. If you believe your pup is not in optimum health, we encourage you to contact us!
We cannot guarantee against every genetic disorder (more than 450 of them - people have 10,000!) as there is not testing available for all of these disorders. We take into consideration a dogs family history as well as health screening results to breed away from health concerns where they might be indicated in a line. Health concerns sometimes present later in a dog’s life however, so this can be challenging. It is important that health concerns are disclosed and we encourage you to contact us if you have any concerns – likewise it is our duty to advise pet owners of any health conditions that we are made aware of if there is concern that an inherited trait may affect your dog.
